Oh, those sand hill cranes!

I was driving from St. Gregory's Abbey in Three Rivers, Michigan, to Kalamazoo, when I happened to notice two sand hill cranes fly low over the road in front of me. I looked to see if they landed, but couldn't find them. I continued to scour the fields as I headed north on a US131 detour and was amply rewarded with a squawking mass of upwards of 1,000 of them that had settled in to a 30-40 acre tract of plowed farmland. It was an amazing sight. They would not let me get close, but that meant I did get some great shots of them in flight. What an amazing sight. 2 November 2016.

The Berkshires

Just had a lovely few days in and around Lenox, Massachusetts, exploring everything from a beaver pond (with half a dozen beaver that challenged the low-light capability of my camera) to the home of Edith Wharton, with a lot of spectacular fall colors in between. October 10 - 12, 2016. Lenox, Massachusetts.

Wings...

I seem to have a wings theme going here. It was unintentional. Just some fun shots exercising a new Canon 5D Mark IV with a 100-400 4.5-5.6 USM II. 10 September 2016. Loantaka Brook Reservation. Morristown, New Jersey.
