I don't know what people picture when I tell them that my mother lives in Maine, on the ocean. So in case you were wondering what it looks like from inside her house-- this is just how "on the ocean" she is. York Harbor, Maine. 2 January 2010.

Found some more photos that I took in Maine with the point-and-shoot. Compare this picture of what my mother calls "Table Rock" with this one, taken a day later at low tide. York Harbor, Maine. 2 January 2010.

One last photo from the "trip-to-Maine" series. While it looks like it could be either a sunset or a sunrise, it's actually a sunrise on a bitterly cold morning. The temperature was in the single digits, and since the ocean was warmer than the air there were wisps of mist hovering close to the water. York Harbor, Maine. 3 January 2010.

The American Falls (from the Canadian side). Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. 7 January 2010.

On the way home from Maine we spent the night in Niagara Falls (the Canadian side), where they have received a good bit of snow. The mist from the falls turns even the thinnest blade of grass into a frozen monument. The Canadian Falls, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. 7 January 2010.

On the morning after the storm there was hardly any evidence of what had happened. The sun was bright, the sky was blue and the waves were gorgeous. York Harbor, Maine. 4 January 2010.

In order to finish the quote from Luke, I went to some photos of a walk that I take each Good Friday with some of the homeless folks in Kalamazoo... "...but the Son of God has no where to lay his head."
Kalamazoo, Michigan. 10 April 2010.

So I went in search of a bird so I could continue the quote from Luke: "...and birds of the air have their nests..."

... and this reminds me of the words from Luke: "Foxes have their holes...

... this one seems to be in hot pursuit...

There are lots of foxes that live in the neighborhood....

It seemed like life was happening in black and white during this storm. The one bit of color came from a washed-up lobster buoy. York Harbor, Maine. 3 January 2010.

Low tide in the midst of a storm. It seems funny to see snow on top of rocks and seaweed that are normally covered by water. York Harbor, Maine. 3 January 2010.

A wave caught in mid-break. I love the seaweed that appears to be suspended in the water. York Harbor, Maine. 3 January 2010.

Sunrise, low tide, at my mother's house. York Harbor, Maine. 30 December 2009.
