So we're driving along and all of a sudden the driver slows down and drives off the road. If we were in the Kruger, this wouldn't seem strange. But we're in the Serengeti, and vehicles are not allowed off the road. Our driver has spotted what I refer to as a kitty nest... a clump of lions lying around, sleeping off a wildebeest-kill-hangover. We pull within feet of the assembled 'clump,' and the driver whispers, "we've only got a few seconds, take pictures fast!" I happily oblige. Central Serengeti, Tanzania. 22 May 2011.

A few more lion shots... Central Serengeti, Tanzania. 22 May 2011.

After the calla lilies, I'm heading back to Pride Rock. It's kinda hard to remember this lion and NOT think of the Lion King. It was a perfect location for him to survey the 'peasants' (perhaps we were adoring subjects?) below and ponder dinner, I'm sure. Having seen the Lion King four times I'm aware of how amazingly artfully Julie Taymor and Co. managed to recreate a completely accurate savannah. Central Serengeti, Tanzania. 22 May 2011.

This shot doesn't leave a lot to the imagination, but it does give a sense of how well the flowers and the vase complimented each other. Florham Park, New Jersey. 24 April 2012.

The morning sun at our house is delightful, and has inspired me to consider the flowers that sit on the breakfast table in different lights. Florham Park, New Jersey. 24 April 2012.

I was looking for an old photo on this blog last night, while at the home of some friends. It was fun seeing what has captured my imagination over time. Looking at some of the photos, I was sorry that I haven't kept up with it.

So here's to turning over a new leaf in my attempt to share the beauty that I occasionally inhale through the lens of my camera!

This was from a bunch of small calla lilies that I picked up at the grocery store on Sunday. They ended up in the perfect vase-- a gift from the church I served in Minnesota. Spending some time with them, I once again appreciated Georgia O'Keeffe's fascination with this subject. Florham Park, New Jersey. 24 April 2012.
