There's a hawthorne tree by our door that looks quite beautiful at this time of year (and also when the snow stacks up on the berries), but otherwise those darn (smashed) berries get tracked everywhere! 25 October 2006.

It snowed a few days ago, and the next day the snow melted off the trees. The dripping sound was quite loud! You can see the water droplets forming at the end of each branch. 24 October 2006.

I've been experimenting a bit shooting RAW images-- this was one of the first. I was struck by the way the sunlight was hitting the bare branches of this tree, while simultaneously adding an orange glow to the trees that had yet to lose their leaves. We dedicated our new peace pole last Sunday, but it was too rainy to get a good picture of it. In English, Hebrew, Arabic and Xhosa it says, "May peace prevail on earth." 28 September 2006.
