A little miracle out in the labyrinth yesterday-- these easter lillies were planted in the late spring (why, after easter, of course!) and I'm told usually take a year before they bloom again. But out there, in the midst of all the dying-off cycle off Fall, there's this wonderful reminder of new life. 29 September 2006.

Today was a lovely early fall day. It was supposed to rain, but instead we mostly had bright sunshine and big, puffy white clouds. I wandered out to the reconciliation labyrinth at the Cathedral, and got to watch nature at work. Moments before this photo was taken this spider had successfully snared a grasshopper twice it's size. (As with all the photos, you can click on it to enlarge it; you can see the hairs on the spider's legs!) 28 September 2006.

We watched "Tomb Raider" last night, so it seems only appropriate to use this photo of Ta Prohm today. A good bit of the Cambodia part of the movie is filmed here. As you stand in this courtyard with other tourists you can hear many different languages spoken, and then, the unmistable english, "Angelina Jolie," and "Tomb Raider." Ta Prohm is an amazing place when the tourists are gone-- there's a very profound mystical quality to it. 29 July 2006.
